Fines and Rules about the Water Shortage Mandatory Water Conservation Requirements Now in Effect

Recently I found a door-hanger on my front door. It was a polite letter saying I had violated the new rules for water preservation in Paso Robles. This was a warning, not an official violation so no fines were imposed.

I was watering on my assigned day but I was warned for using my water sprinkler during the banned hours of 9AM to 7PM.

I received a nice letter from the city a few days later.

Written warnings will be issued for the first two infractions and will not result in a financial penalty. Any additional violations that occur within a twelve-month period will result in the following financial penalties:

One hundred dollar ($100) fine will be assessed for the First Violation

Two Hundred dollars ($200) for the Second Violation;

Five hundred dollars ($500) for the Third Violation; and

Termination of water service may result from additional violations.

Monetary penalties for violations of mandatory water use restrictions will appear on your water bill. Failure to pay fines or to comply with the mandatory water use restrictions may result in the termination of Water service.
